From Passion To Profession

Many friends ask me how to be a dive Instructor and how to be a great Instructor?

First question can be answer easily. Just follow PADI diving chart, save 2 weeks of leave and budget around RM 10,000 for IDC (Instructor Development Course) IDC and to buy course materials.

Second question is very subjective. All instructor training programs can produce qualified instructors, what separates an excellent instructor is his or her professionalism and dedication to producing well-trained, confident divers and likely to catch scubaholic virus themselves. Instructors pass on not only their knowledge, but also their enthusiasm and sense of stewardship for the aquatic world. Being a good scuba instructor is more than a part-time of full-time job, it depends also on commitment and character. As for me, I’m still learning how to improve myself from each training class. That's why I created my very own evaluation form and ask student divers to email feedback to me.

One of the most fulfilling experiences is to see former students organizing diving trips and enjoying themselves. Surely hope one day I will have the chance to see my former students teaching students of their own.
